Yamunotri Dham Yatra is a significant pilgrimage for Hindus, located at an altitude of 3185 meters. It is a part of the famous Char Dham Yatra and is known for its thermal springs and glaciers. According to legend, the revered sage Asit Muni used to reside here. The actual source of the Yamuna river is a frozen lake of ice and glacier called Champasar glacier, located on the Kalind mountain at a height of 4421 meters above sea level, about 1 km further up. However, it is not easily accessible, so the shrine has been located at the foot of the hill. The approach to the actual source is extremely difficult, so pilgrims offer pooja at the temple itself, which is dedicated to the goddess Yamuna. Devotees, come from all over to pay their respects and seek blessings.
Gangotri Dham Yatra is a pilgrimage circuit that includes four religious sites, with Gangotri being one of the most significant. Located in Uttarkashi, Gangotri is closely associated with the goddess Ganga, also known as the Ganges River. The shrine is situated at an elevation of 3048 meters and is surrounded by serene natural beauty, making it a highly revered destination for devout Hindus seeking spiritual enlightenment. Devotees, flock to Gangotri to bask in its sacred atmosphere and pay homage to the goddess Ganga.
